A.J.C. AUTUMN MEETING.

SYDNEY, Bth April. The A.J.C. Autumn Meeting commenced yesterday. There was fine 'weather, the going was, good, and there was a. large attendance. Jack Rice opened the programme again, proving a wonderful, hurdler, under exceptional weight. Lobanoff broke a leg and was destroyed. M'Lean, thd jockey, waa injured. The Doncaster Handicap was a very open race. Cetigne, King's Bounty, and Spurn were greatly.fancied. Polycrates was most prominent and looked, like a winner at the distance, but the outsider, Wedding Day, well ridden by Connell, challenged the leader, and a great ia.ce resulted in favour of Wedding Day by a narrow margin. The absence of New Zealand horses detracted from the interest in the race. Rongopai was the only /visitor, and made no showing in the Hui'dle Race. A number of Light Horsemen leading a horse with an empty -saddle created interest and secured a number of recruits.

There were ten starters, piva's Me and Chautemerle were the ■first to move. Borobita quickly assumed command from The Fortune Hunter, Harriet Graham, and Court Jester. Polycrates quickly went to the front, and at the half-mile post Three, Polyorates, Woorak, Whitefield, and First Principle were in the order* named, Which was unchanged., as the horses reached the straight. Polycrates led at the distance, but Wedding Day, coming fast, overhauled him in the last few strides, and won by a head. Whitefield was three lengths behind Polycrates. Time, lmin 39sec.
