TWO LINES CAPTURED;

The High Commissioner reports : — LONDON, 23rd February

An official report from Mesopotamia states:—Since clearing the Dahra Bend (in the Tigris, west of Kut el Amara.) all oui" efforts have been concentrated in taking the Sanna-i-yat position on the left bank of the Tigris' east of Kut el Amara.

Some systematic bombardments have been carried out daily since the 17th instant, when our attack failed, and all preparations, were made for a renewed effort. This attack was launched on 22nd February, and two Hues of trendies in the south were secured and the positions consolidated. Fighting is still proceeding.

Heavy rain caused the Tigris to rise to Hood level, hindering our operations, and making supply of 'troops on the left bank a matter of some difficulty.
