On the second day of the Wanganui Races, the- totalisator handled £35,854, making a total of £67,693 for the meeting, as against £6p,664 for the last meeting. Remaining results:—
Fordell Handicap Hurdles, of 175 soys; one mile and three-quarters.—4 Record, 10.9 (E. Copestake), 1; 3 Harbour Light, 11.12 (J. Deerey), 2; 2 jMarton, 10.1 (L. Trail 1), 3. Also started: 1 Kurapai 11.9, S Grandson 9.0. In a strong finish Record won by a short neck, Marton three lengths away. Time, 3rain 16 2-ssec.
Okoia Hack Welter, of 120 soys; six furlongs.—l Rockfield, 9.6 (J. O'Shea), 1; 4 Haupai, 8.4 (W. Price), 2; 3 Crown Head, 9.0 (H. Young), 3. Also started: 2 Deesido 8.10, 5 Coral Queen 7.13, 7 The Waif 7.12. Won easily by half a length, Crown Head a length away. Time, Imin 16 l-ssec. ;
Wanganui Stakes, of SOO soys; one mile and a-half.—l E. J. Watt's b g Bunting, by All Black—Red Plume, 4yrs, 9.0 (A. Reed), 1; 9 G. Hunter's ch'g Indigo, by Mystification—Mungista, syrs,' 7.10 (j. Oksen), 2; 4 T. H. Lowry's b g Bjorneboi'g, by Finland—War Scare, 3yrs, 7.6 (H. Young), 3. Other starters: 3 Client 8.7, 7 Colonel Soult, 8.6, 2 Depredation 8.4, 8 Sunbird 7.10, 6 Analogue 7.10, 5 Housewife 7.2. Won by a length and ahalf. Time, 2min 34sec.
Harrison Hack Handicap, of 120 soys; one mile and a distance.—6 Pohehe. 7.2 (C 4. Young), 1; 5 Spain, 9.0 (W. Av'ery), 2. Also started : 3 Iceberg. 9.0, 2 Thrace 7.11, 7 Thames 8.7, Retva Rewa 7.7, 8 War Loan 7.0. Thames won, but was disqualified for being 71b short, weight. Time, imin 57 2-ssee.
Farewell Handicap, of 200 soys; six furlongs.—2 Chakwana, 8.7 (A. Reed), 1; 1 tete-a-Teto, 10.2 (J. O'Shea), 2; 4 Nystad, 7.11 (B. Deeloy), 3. Also started : 6 Interlude 7.7, 8 Veto 7.6,3 Tree Lucerne 7.3, 7 Greenstreet 6.13, S Madame Ristori 6.13. Tete-a-Tete led Nystad into the straight, when Chakwana came ahead strongly on the outside and won by a length. Time, Imin 14 1-Ssec.
