WELLINGTON BOYS' INSTITUTE
The opening "social" in connection with the Boys' Institute was held tha other evening, to celebrate the opening of the boys' -work for the year. Judging by the enthusiasm displayed, the incoming year's work ' amongst the boys should eclipse all previous years. Tha spacious dining room was filled to overflowing with happy smiling faces. In all, 350 boys were present, and they did full justice to the good things provided, and duly appreciated the efforts of the various artists to entertain them. Mr. G. A. Tronp (president) welcomed (hi old and new boys to the Institute, and urged them to maintain the honour oE the Institute, which stood so high in the estimation. of the public. Mr. FBoss (director) then briefly described the various classes, which will include gymnastic, physical drill, scouts/ cadets' drum and' fife band, wrestling, swimming, ■ life saving, distance swimming, educational classes, cricket, soccer, Rugby, Sunday evening service, etc. The director pointed out that the Institute catered for boys of all religions, and especially was the poorer type o£ boy welcomed. Annual membership is the same as last year, namely, juniors - (10 to 12) Is. The membership o_J the Institute at the present time is 450 boys.. New member? are nos being enrolled^
