PERMITTING "SHOUTING'
BARMAN PENALISED,
Two charges—one under the War Regulations and one under the Licensing Act—were heard in the Magistrate's Court to-day, before Mr. L. G. Reid,* S.MI The defendant, John. Taflgney, who was employed as barman in the Royal Tiger Hotel, Taranaki-street, was charged with supplying liquor to Edward Alexander, a person under 21 years of age, and also, with permitting John Lavigne to for Kruger. Defendant pleaded not guilty, and was defended by Mr. H. F. 6'Leary. . After hearing the evidence, the Magistrate said he was satisfied that offences had been committed in each instance. Regarding the charge under the Licensing Act, his Worship merely recorded a conviction, but in respect of the more serious charge of "shouting" the defendant was fined fi3, with costs.
