SWIMMING CARNIVAL
NEW ZEALAND SCHOOLS CHAM
PIONSHIPS.
•' Keen interest is being evinced in the iNew Zealand schools swimming championahips, which are to be decided at Te Aro Baths on Saturday afternoon. The event is unique, in that it is the first carnival of its kind to be held ; in the Dominion) and it is anticipated that the public will lend its support .liberally to such a commendable enterprise. It is essentially a gathering of school champions, who will come from as far north as Auckland and as far south as Dunedin. Besides four championship events, there will be the annual competition For the Duthie Cup—always a popular item—in which four boys from each school in Wellington will compete as a separate team. During the afternoon the proceedings will be enlivened by the Tr'entham Band, which will render selections. Any snrplus is to be ihanded over to the Returned Soldiers' Club. ■
