(BY TELEGRAPH.—PRESS ASSOCIATION.)
AUCKLAND, This Day.
Mr. Veitch, M.P., speaking at a luncheon to members of the Northern Parliamentary, tour, said the man who says ho: would just : as well live under German rule as under British rule is a fool. "We cannot allow men to talk like that," he continued. "This war is not a football match. Our soldiers do not want barrackers; they want fighters. \I; was told that if I supported military- service I would go out of office. In reply to that I say that if a soldier is prepared to risk his life for me I would be a coward if I w«re not prepared to risk my billet for him."
When Mr. Veitch sat down all present, standing, gave three rousing cheers. Mr. Field, M.P., said Mr. Veitch had expressed the sentiments of three-fourths or more of the Labour people of New Zealand.
