ONSLOW BOROUGH
MEETING OF COUNCIL.
The Onslow Borough Council met last night, when the Mayor (Mr. C. C. Crump) occupied the chair. The following- wcro present:—Councillors L., A. Browne, A. G. Budd. J. M. Dale, J. C Gardiner, H. Brenton-Rule, A. W. C. Palmer, W. Appleton, ami C. Bowden. Consideration was given to a. special order closing pa.rt of an unnamed street loading to the Kniwarra. School for the purposes of a fire brigade shed site.—The order was agreed to. Tho report, of the Special Drainage Agreement Committee was received. ■ It was decided that the amount of the dog tax for the coming year remain the same as last year, and that the Mayor should act as collector, as previously. The engineer's report w«3 read and adopted.—On the motion of Councillor Budd it was decided to ask the engineer to take periodical readings of the Kaiwarra Stream. . The application of Mr. Eenai to_ plant ngaios on the roadside adjoining his property in York-street, Khandallah, was granted, subject, to the engineer's approval. A letter was received from the Petone Borough Council inviting support of a resolution recommending increased pay for the Expeditionary Forces, and urging that Wealth be conscripted. The District Health Officer wrote in refereriee to tho danger of using common drinking cups, nnd drawing attention to tho chances of contracting diseases of various kinds in this manner. : The road foreman's report and the ranger's report were received. A letter was received from the District. Health Officer reporting a case of scarlet fever in Khandallah. •
