Percy Ereckson, although a youth, has, according to the police, an unenviable record of crime, and bids far to become a hardened criminal. Between sth September and 4th November last he was a member of the Forces, but becoming dis, contented under the heel of discipline, he deserted and burnt hie uniform. Then, so the police story goes, he embarked on a career of crime, and at length fell into •the clutches of the law. On one occasion a starved exchequer drove him to the Grand. Opera House, where he collected various articles belonging to other people. These he disposed of to secondhand dealers, and it was this act that caused a break in operations. When Ereckson appeared before Mr. L. G. Reid, S.M., in the Magistrate's Court to-day he admitted taking tho articles from the Opera House, and was sentenced to terms totalling one month's imprisonment in all. On an indictable charge—that of theft from the Clyde-quay-Hotel—Rreckson also pleaded guilty, and war. committed to the Supreme Court for sentence. There'are numerous other charges pending a.gainst Kreckson, including the alleged theft of four motorcycles.
