WOODVILLE, 31st January
There was a large attendance at the Woodville Show. The weather was fine. The quality of Jersey cattle and fat sheep and pigs received special commendation from the judges. The principal results were :— Leaping Competition.—Boy's pony, R. Scott 1, W. Baker 2; girls', W Baker 1, W. Scott 2; maiden, l\. Scott 1, D. Anderson 2; Hunting style, H. Hassell 1, J. Bryce 2. The winner secures the Bachelors' Cup, having been successful for two years in succession. •
Hack Classes. —W. Booth, champion cup. f . . • ' . Cattle.—Jersey bull, E. Harding, champion ; cow, J. Howat, champion. Shorthorns, C. and S. Morgan, champion. Milking Competition.—R. Smith. Points prize for . sheep, crossbred and fat, Gaisford's Estate.
Pigs.—Berkshire, Mrs. Wall, champion. Yorkshire, F. Fitzpatrick, champion. Motor-cycle race results : — Five Miles.—J. Dawber 1, J. Spooner 2. Time, 7min lOsec.
Ten Miles—P. Coleman 1, R. Jones 2, Time, 9min 37sec.
Entries for the Solway Show, to be held by the Mastevton A. and P. Association on Tuesday and Wednesday, 20th and 21st February, 1917, will close with the secretary (Mr. J. B. Emmett, Box 40, Masterton) on Monday next, sth February, at 9 p.m. ( The show this year promises to eclipse any exhibition of stock ever before seen in Wairarapa. Tlio annual ram and ewe fair will be held on 22nd and 23rd February, entries closing on sth February with the auctioneers. No late entries will be accepted.
The sixth annual Show of the Rangitikei A. n.ud P. Association will be held at the Recreation Ground, Taihape, on Wednesday, 2StU February. The schedule embraces all classes of stock, home industries, and garden produce. Liberal prize money is offered in addition to £100 worth of trophies. The competitions consist, of hunters, pony jumping, ladies' hunters, and riding and driving. The Main Trunk Ram Fair will be held at the Tailia.pe Sale Yards on Ist March. Entries for tho Show close on 17th February, and for the ram fair on Ist February Schedules containing full information may be obtained from the secretary, Mr. "A. M.
