SHIP'S CAPTAIN INJURED.

A painful accident occurred on the wharf yesterday afternoon, as n, result of which Captain John Backluiid, master of an American vessel, is now an inmate of the Hospital. Captain Backlund was superintending the discharge of the lumber cargo which his vessel brought, and was guiding a. heavy piece of lumber into' place on the stack on the wharf, when it swung -round and caught him a violent blow on the chest. The beam then struck him on the.jaw, and lifted him about four feet off the wharf.

The injured man was conveyed fr>,the Hospital in an unconscious condition, suffering from various cuts and bruises, but is expected to be able to rejoin bis ship in three or four days' time, being a man of very strong constitution.
