PETONE TECHNICAL SCHOOL
ThY first meeting of the Petone Technical School Board for 1917 was held last evening, Mr. J. G. Castlo being in the chair. There were- also present Messrs. Wakeham, Welch, Meldrum, Forsyth, M'Kenzie, M'Dougall, Coles, and M'Ewan._ . _ , It was decided to obtain alternative estimates for.the plastering and painting, with a waterproof fluid, the wplls of the school. : , Mrs. L. Davie was appointed caretaker out of, twelve applications. 1 The whole of the teaching staff was reappointed. It was decided to reopen the school on 12th February, no class to be started unless six pupils are forthcoming. It was also decided to endeavour to form an art class. The balance-sheet showed that the year opened with a credit balance of £24, and closed with a credit balance of £156. The principal items on the receipts side were capitation £656 9s 4d, free places £95 12s 6d, subsidies £145 4s 9d, class feee £114 4s. 3d, voluntary contributions £105 13s, and on the expenditure side, salaries £795 14s 9d, caretakers. £82 10s, lighting and heating £60 is lOd, drainage installation £85. ■ .
