AN APPEAL FAILS

M the Supreme Court this afternoon, his Honour the' Chief Justice (Sir Robert Stout) was engaged in hearing an appeal from a, recent decision of Mr. W. G. Riddell, S.M., adjudging the appellant, a soldier now on active service, to be the putative father of an unborn illegitimate child. The grounds of the appeal were that there was do evidence, or no sufficient evidence, to corroborate the plaintiff's statements in some mate-; rial particulars; also that on tie whole evidence the Court was not justified in finding as it had. Mr. P. W. Jackson appeared for the appellant, and Mr. J. J. M'Grath for the respondent.

The appeal was dismissed, with. £8 8s costs. „ ,
