RETURNING SOLDIERS

Intimation was received this morning by the Mayor (Mr. J. P. Luke) that the Maori, which is conveying North Island returned soldiers and nurses ex the Maratmi, will not reach Wellington until 6 o'clock this evening. Since the men will be fully occupied between the time of arrival' and departure by train for their honies, the arrangements for a civic reception have been cancelled. The Returned Soldiers' Association this morning sent the following wireless message to the returned soldiers, who came back by the Marama and are due here by the Maori this evening:—"Returned Soldiers' Association welcomes you and invites you to be its guests at the Returned Soldiers' Club."
