The voyage proved to be probably the longest on record, for the. skipper put into Pernambuco, and there went "on the spree." He proceeded to sell the cargo to meet his obligations as necessity arose, and finally died. Of the crew some died from fever, and some were killed in street brawls.- Eventually a new master had to be sent from New York, and he brought the Mikado to Dunedin, just 18 months after she had set out on the vuyage. Legql proceedings arose during her stay in Dunedin, and she was seized and sold bj. order of the Court. She was bought by tho Union Company for a hulk, and Captain Shepherd, who took her to Fiji, made the fastest passage from Port Chalmers on record up till that time—a record which probably still stands. At Suva she was converted into a hulk, and has continued in use in. that capacity until she was destroyed by fire last week For the first time since the Ferry berth was opened the Mararoa berthed this morning on the northern side of the wharf ( The Te Anau on her way from Timaru to Auckland will call in at Wellington to-morrow for bunkers According to the Timaru Herald the barque Daniel is to leave Newcastle shortly for Timaru „.
