THE SECRET OF EMPIRE
GERMANY WOULD LEARN IT
FUTURE RELATIONS WITH TURKEY. (PUBLISHED in the times.) LONDON, 26th September. Tbe German press is amazed at Britain's quickness in raising her citizen army, and at the continued influx of troops from the oversea Dominions. It is pointed out tljat these factors are responsible for the terrific force of the Somme offensive, and a warning is given that the Germans must not expect a speedy termination of the war, but must prepare for greater sacrifices in order to save the Fatherland.
- The Frankfurter Zeitung admits that Germany is now using Turkey for tho defence of Germany, and goes on to draw a parallel between Turco-German relations and those existing between Britain and her Dominions. "We erroneously thought that these oversea Dominions would leave the Empire,' but they did not want to-be free. We must establish a political relationship between Turkey and Germany similar to that which exists between Britain and her Dominions."-
