MORE DEADLY THAN ZEPPELINS

MOTOR-CARS IN AMERICA

A FAILURE.

(Received September 26, 12.30 p.m.) NEW YORK, 25th "September.

More persons were killed by motor cars in the United States between the Ist of January and Ist of September, according to the official police records, than have been slain in Great Britain by Zeppelins. The total deaths from motor car accidents is 1040, and the total injured is over 8000. Chicago comes first with 205 killed, and New York next with 158.

American comment on the destruction of the two Zeppelins over England suggests that German aerial frightfulness can now be as successfully countered as the submarine frightfulness has been. The defeat of the airships is declared to prove that the widely heralded super-Zeppelins are failures, their huge size making them more vulnerable as targets for the defending guns. . ■ . .
