SYDNEY, This Day. At Broken Hill two men were fined for using abusive language at an anticonscription meeting. Tlie crowd made a demonstration at the courthouse, rushed the police station and bombarded it with stones. The police charged, using their batons, and dispersed the crowd. Later the courthouse was attacked.

MELBOURNE, This Day. Tlie Australian Workers' Union executive has passed a.motion to oppose conscription by lawful means, and undertaking during tho campaign not to join any general strike. !
