ADMINISTERING THE OATH
The pressing need for recruits to fill up the 640 vacancies in the 21st Reinforcements continues. All districts have been asked to make good their shortages by to-morrow, but at present nothing like 'the number of men required is in sight. Tlie necessity for vigorous action being taken is thus more apparent than ever.
Recruiting for the City'of Wellington has been wholly transferred to the Town Hall, where Lieut. Mellor is now located for the purpose of swearing in men. The new system of administering the oath on recruits registering and being passed as fit was introduced this afternoon. Several men were thus enlisted and were handed 5s each as representing a day's pay. The latest recruits registered in No. 5 Group (Wellington City and Suburbs) who hf.ve been passed as medically fit for the infantry are as under: — Priddy, H. F., bricklayer, City Baker, A. T., miner, City Scarr, W., commercial traveller, Kilbirnie Thorn, N. D., policeman, City Tosher, 0. J., policeman, City Calvin, H. A., clerk, City Fuller, A., clerk, City. Mac Donald, H.
