NEW BANK-NOTES
The Bank of New Zealand has had printed in London new- bunk notes of £1 and £5 denominations, land is having printed £10 notes of new design. Tho £1 notes are slightly smAller than'the present notes of tho same denominations, but whereas these ire mainly in two colour—-black and pin\k—and with the familiar Maori medalliphs on the left-hand side, the new £\ note is printed in "rainbow- colours" on the back, one merging into the other, and tlie reading matter on the 'face is in a purplish-black ink.. The medallions are placed one oil either sidi', the Maoris to the left, the * volcano and lake scene to the right. The £5 note is larger than that now in use, and the position of the medallions is reversed; Tlie reading matter and engraving, are printed in dark blue and overlays delicate engraving printed "rainbow" fashion. The notes will go out as required, but are not in general use yet. . They will supersede okl notes of like value as J ouch are withdrawn. |
