NAPIER, 31st August.
The Koutunui arrived at Napier about 10.30 to-night with £25,000 worth of bullion in boxes, and the passengers' and crews' effects from the wreck. The Tv Atu. got right along-side, as the weather was calm, and salvaged the effects. A lot of' valuable cargo is on board, and some niay be salvaged if the fine weather keeps up. The vessel is unlikely to break up unless' an easterly or north-easterly gale comes on. - The Te Aroha is leaving Wairoa to be on the scene, and extra efforts are to be made to salvage all the cargo possible.
