"THE BIRTH OF A NATION."

Great interest is being taken in the forthcoming season at the large Town Hall of the film masterpiece, " The Birth of a Nation," under the direction of the J. G. Williamson firm. . It is described as a picture of educational value, which should not be missed by the student, the teacher, or the public at large. The story shows tho rise of the United States from a scattered series of provinces, divided by sectarian, and racial hatred, into a free and independent country, welded together in nationhood.. The great Civil War, President Lincohi, the black menace, and other subjects, inspiring and thrilling, are shown. In the production of "The Birth of a Nation," D. W. Griffith, who organised the spectacle, displayed great skill and resource. At one time close upon twenty thousand people were concerned in the work, and a huge commissariat department had to be arranged to provide food and shelter. The difficulty of the task was increased by the fact that those thousands were not stationed in one spot, but were moved about from time to time, so that transport as well as feeding and housing had to be provided. In all these arrangements the . organiser displayed the hand of a master. The season, which will open on Tuesday evening, at 8 o'clock punctually (on account of the length, of the performance) is limited to nine nights and a matinee, and the box plans are now open at The Bristol. There is no extra charge for booking.
