SHACKLETON'S PARTY

EFFORTS TO RESCUE MEN ON ELEPHANT ISLAND.

BUENOS AIRES, 27th June.

Sir Ernest Shackleton has telegraphed asking for the despatch of the Argentine steamer Uruguay, the rescuer of the Swedish 1903 expedition. The Government has replied that the Uruguay is unserviceable.

Steps are being taken to carry out Mr. Frank Boulder's suggestion to obtain a Dundee whaler to go to the relief of the Shackleton party on Elephant Island.
