OUTSIDE DOCTORS AND THE B.M.A.
Mr. R. Fletcher (Wellington Central), a few days' ago, asked the..Minister for Internal Affairs what steps he intends, in view of the evidence which will be placed before him, to take in connection with the intimidation practised by the British Medical Association against doctors who refuse to join it and obey its dictates, and also the refusal of doctors who belong to that association to consult with medical men who are practising independently of it. The Hon. G. W. Russell, in reply, states that the Department is fully aware of the circumstances, and hopes the British, Medical Association will not set up a position of refusing to consult with registered medical practitioners not members of that body. If such action as the honourable member refers to is taken by the British Medical Association, the Department is prepared to take any steps that may be necessary in the interest of the public.
