GERMAN COMMITS SUICIDE

The police at Lower Hutt received word yesterday that a German named Johann Carl Umverract, residing in Swamp-road Wainni-o-mata, had committed suicide by hanging. Further enquiries elicited that the deceased was found by two schoolboys yesterday hanging by a rope suspended from a rafter in the barn at the rear of his dwelling. The deceased, who is described as a farm worker, was 77 years of age. There is no known motive for the act.
