ON THE MORT HOMME GERMAN TRENCH CARRIED
BRITISH FRONT QUIET.
The High Commissioner reports :— LONDON, 15th June, 11.55 p.m.
A French official despatch says : On the left bank of the Meuse, after artillery" preparation, our troops, m the course of a lively attack, carried a German trench on the slopes south of Mort Homme. There is intense artillery activity in the region of Chattancourt and at Hill 304.
On the right bank the enemy violently bombarded the works at Thiaumont and Souville.
For twenty-four hours it has been quiet on most parts of the British front.
