CLAIMS AGAINST THEM AND

THEIR. CARGOES,

A Gazette Extraordinavv iust issued publishes notices which app^-ured in the London Gazette of 21st April, 1916, with respect to claims by British, Allied, or neutral third parties against ships or cargoes condemned or detained by Prize Courts in the self-governing Dominions. The notices state that the following vessels have been condemned or detained by- Prize Courts: —

In "the Commonwealth of Australia: Altona. Athene (sailing vessel), Berlin, Cannstatt, Carl Rudgert Vinnen (s.v.), Ernst (s.v.), Gennnuia, Gruefswald, lieseen, Hobn.rt, Lothringen, Melbourne, Neumunster, Overhauseii, Olinda (s.v.), Osnabruck, Pl'alz, Prinz Sigismund, Scharzfeis, Signal, StolzenfeLs, Sumatra, Sussanne Vinneh (s.v.), Thuringeu, Tibei ins, Turul, AVildenfela, Wotan, Zambesi..

In the Dominion of Canada: Bellas (s.v.). .

In the Union of South Africa: Apolda, Birhenfels, Bismarco, Hamm Heinz (s.v.), Rufidge, Seeadler, Sturmvogel.

It is further intimated that all British, Allied, or Neutral persons having any claims against the vessels mentioned should send them, with all necessary particulars, to the secretary of the committee, Board of Trade, Whitehall Gardens, London, S.W., as soon as possible, and in any case within three months, after which they cannot be entertained.

A similar notification is giveiv as. to claims against prize cargoes. Persons with any such claims should send them, with nil necessary particulars, to the secretary oi the committee, Board of Trade, Whitehall 'Gardens, London, S.W., within four months if the cargo has already been condemned or detained by an ordi?" of the Prize Court. If the cargo hns -'ic-t yet been dealt with by a Prize Court, such application must be made within four months of the order for condemnation or" detention.
