NEW ZEALAND SYNOPSIS OF PAST 24 HOURS. The disturbance, which has been located in northern latitudes for several days past, is now apparently centred off the north-east coast of the North island. South-east gales have been experienced in and northwards of Cook Strait, and heavy rain has fallen in the northern and east, coast districts of the North Island since last evening. Over most of tlie South Islaud cold and fair weather has ruled, but mist and 'cloudiness are more in evidence this morning. TO-DAY'S WEATHER 'from observations taken at 9 a.m.
