QUEENSLAND MEAT WORKS

THE PREMIER'S IDEAL. (Received May 10, 10 a.m.) LONDON, 9th May. The Premier of Queensland (Mr.'T. J. Ryan), speaking before the Butchers' Company, removed some misconceptions ,of Queensland's action regarding meat works. He successfully repelled the charge of confiscation, adding that his ideal was complete Government control of the entire meat exports. Mr. Ryan added: "The fair labour conditions on which Queensland insisted produced the sturdy men who were so nobfy upholding the Empire."
