WOMEN TEACHERS
MEETING OF ASSOCIATION.
The annual meeting of the Wellington Women Teachers' Association was held in the Education Board's offices last night. Miss P. Myers presided, and the attendance of members was not large The annual report referred to the forward step taken by the registration of\the association in September, I 1315, ancl to the affiliation with the Workers' Educational Association. Mention was also made of the war work in the schools, including the sewing scheme —the suggestion of Miss Myers, which was approved by the board and inspectors, and adopted. The Balance-sheet, showing a small credit, was read and adopted. The following office-bearers were elected:—President, Jliss P. Myers; vice-presidents, Miss Coad and Miss Holm; secretary, Miss Williams; treasurer, Miss Cooper; committee, Misses Dumann, Robinson, Ziman, Davidson, and K. Finlayson. During the evening an interesting address was given by Miss A. D. Bright (Wairarapa), whose subject was " Teachers and Citizenship." Dealing first with the ideals of citizenship, the speaker said that it should, be the duty and true ideal of the citizen to serve the State, and even welcome death in its service. She went on to refer to the necessary isolation of members of the teaching professions, which the speaker described as the oldest and noblest in the world. She referred to the part which teachers have in moulding the men and womenof the future, and thus shaping the national thought, and held that the way the woman teacher must do her work for the State is by inculcating in her pupils the highest ideals of citizenship
