PERSONAL CARDS

WELLINGTON RECRUITING INITIATION OF SCHEME. On Friday evening, at a meeting in the Town Hall, it was resolved to 'approach all men of military age through the post, with the object of carrying out the Government scheme of recruiting and completing the National Register. No time has been lost by the Town Hall Recrniting Committee in carrying out the decision. The Mayor and members of the committee were engaged until a late hour on Saturday night in the preparatory work, To-day a Post reporter who called on the Mayor found him still busy, though the work was proceeding with a brisk swing. Ladies who had volunteered to assist in the clerical work of mailing the recruiting cards and literature made their appearance at the Town Hall in large numbers to-day, ajid set to work in businesslike manner. The Mayor, Mr. Yon Haast, and Capt. Barclay, with other members of the Town Hall Committee, attended to see the scheme properly launched. "We expect to have the appeal and the cards out very quickly," said the Mayor to a reporter, "and within a fortnight a great many of the cards should have been returned." The National Register roll in the Mayor's office is corrected each day in accordance with the official area group copy by an officer of the Group Office. _ The method adopted in this mail canvass was outlined on Friday night. It is, brieflly, to send to each man of military age a recruiting report card, with an appeal and addressed envelope for return. The information sought is inregard to alteration of address, willingness to join the Reinforcements (under category A), or to come up at fourteen days' notice when required (under category B); previous military experience; branch of service preferred ; if unfit, with number of certificate and date; reason for refusal to enlist, whether married or single, number of dependents, and occupation.
