"CONVICT LYNDON AT LIBERTY."
At the Empress Theatre a London film success was shown to-day to largo attendances—"Convict Lyndon at liberty." The attraction came with an English reputation as a high-class drama, quite off the beaten track. The action takes place at the beginning of the war, when London was infested with German spies. Dr. Lyndon is a brilliant chemist, employed by the War Office, experimenting with high explosives. He succeeds in discovering a new force. The Teuton secret poSce are informed that the formula must be obtained, and their system is at once set to work. The doctor's love for a charming English girl is turned to acpount by the spies. On a German spy's evidence Dr. Lyndon is sent to gaol, but he. escapes, only to find himself in a lonely but occupied by the head of the spies. He agrees to sell the formula of the explosive, but, through the jealousy of a woman of the gang, he learns that the secret is wanted by Germany. Dr. Lyndon refuses to sell, and assistance arrives in time to destroy the nest of secret agents. The Pathe Gazette and "Scenes Around Lucerne" make up the balance of the programme.
