In response to a request for a 10 per 'cent, war bonus in accordance with the ! recommendation of the Arbitration Court the Wellington, Metal Workers' Assistants' Union has received from the Patent Slip Company a reply to the effect that the company'is unable to accede to the request, especially as in some instances a higher rate than provided for by the award is being paid" to this class of worker. Councillor M'Dougall will move at Monday's meeting of the Lower Hutt Borough Council : "That a return be presented to the council showing (a) the amount of any unexpended loan moneys, if any, (b) what such loans were raised for, and (c)' how such moneys are'invested, and, if earning interest, to what account such interest is placed." A further eximination of the injuries sustained by Wm. S. Jenkins, who fell from his trap in Buckle-street, and was dragged along the road for about fifty yards, shows that only one of his legs has been fractured.
