AMSTERDAM, sth May. A Berlin official communique states: There has been vigorous fighting at some points between Armentieres and Arras. The British, following a mine explosion, attempted an attack northwest of Lens, but the attempt failed. Though the French attack on the western slopes of Mort Homme was repulsed, the enemy gained a footing in our advanced positions ou the southwestern slopes of Mort Homme.
