CENTRAL CONTROLS.
Somebody has made the claim that centrally-placed Drakes and changespeed levers give the passenger an opportunity of operating the brakes and gears should the driver suddenly become unconscious through illness. Tlie only advantage I have ever been able to discover in left-hand brake' and changespeed lovers (says' a writer iu the Motor) is low cost of production. Under American conditions there is nothing against the arrangement, for there the steeering wheel is generally on the left, and the central levers become righthand operated. But left-hand steering is impossible with the English rule of the road.
