The latest news regarding the crisis between the United States and Germany over the latter's submarine war policy is that it is understood Germany is willing to make concessions, and American State officials are hopeful that they will lead to an amicable settlement. On the Verdun front the Crown Prince's troops have met with a crushing defeat at Mort Honime. West sof Erzerum desperate Turkish attacks were repulsed by the Russians with heavy loss. The Australian troops have been in actionf at Bir-el-Duweidar, 15 miles east of the Canal. •
