MYSTIFICATION— STEPDAUGHTER FILLY.
Something novel in the way 'oi .art unions is advertised in .this issue, the prize being a thoroughbred yearling filly by Mystification—Stepdaughter. This filly was bred by Mr. George Hunter, M.P., of Porangahau, Hawkes .Day, and has been presented by him to the Soldiers' Queen Committee, Dannevirke District Patriotic Queen Carnival, ■which is now being held in aid of the Wounded Soldiers Fund. . This filly is well bred and is a half-sister to Lord Renown. Her sire, Mystification, has a long list of successes to his ciedit. Ar a two-year-old he won the two-year-old hack races at both Hawkes Bay and Waipukurau Meetings. The following season he won the Grandstand Handicap at the Napier Park Meeting, the President's Handicap at Hawkes Bay Summer Meeting, Autumn Handicap at Dannevirke, and the Burke Memorial Stakes at the Hawkes Bay Autumn Meeting. Other successes attained by Mystification are King Edward Handicap (Hawkes Bay Meeting), Dannevirke Cup, Waipukurau Handicap, Thompson Handicap, and Pearce Handicap at Wellington, Huia Handicap (Otaki)/and Heretaunga Handicap at Hastings. The committee which is running the art union, in order to realise as much as possible for the Wounded Soldiers Fund, has fixed the price of the tickets at 2s 6d. Mr. George Huntra-, M.P , Mr. Henry Ga-is-ford, and Mr. E. A.
