TRAMWAY MANAGEMENT

TO THE EDITOR.

Sir, —Again the Tramway Management has brought out a new timetable, and again, after about a week, history and complaints repeating themselves, it is unable to run to it. The Post of sth inst. announced that the new timetable came into operation the previous day, and today (the 14th inst) the. management has to admit by four alterations that the new timetable is obsolete. Now, as to the timetable itself. Page 58 is headed " Seatoun to Wellington," while page 59, in place of being headed " Welllington to Seatoun," so that it may be readily picked out, is inconsistently head,ed " Seatoun service," which, of course, applies to the previous page as well. Again, in the course of a conversation

with a Post representative on sth inst. Mr. M'Gillivray referred to cars designated with a "big 2," while The Post exactly a year age previously proved conclasively that "the numbers were to small to be seen plainly, that the present display on the front of the cars was far from satisfactory, and the people had cause to wonder why it was adopted." Why has no improvement been made in this direction? Also in regard to misleading designation signs, complaints continually appear in the press, yet no alteration is made for the better. Only last evening I noticed a car designated " Lambton-quay " proceeding south along Willis-street, and the like is a common occurrence.—l am, etc., COMMON-SENSE.
