TAUMARUNUI, 19th -April. At a meeting of the borough councillors, the resolution from the ratepayers' meeting calling on the Mayor and councillors to resign was considered. It was resolved by four votes to three not to resign. Two councillors were absent. The Mayor explained that when the balance-sheet was out it would 'show that, the- council was in a gox! financial position. Tho only trouble was that rates, etc., were not colle:ted early enough.
