PETONE PATRIOTIC CARNIVAL
Petone has always been noted for the enthusiastic manner in which the public carries out its undertakings, and the carnival arranged for Easter Monday will be no exception to the rule. A novel 'feature of the carnival is the Rosebud Queen Competition, in which the candidates represent thp various Reinforcements which have left New Zealand. Each candidate has been supplied with photo postcards of herself, which are to be sold at threepence each, and the successful candidate will be the one who sells most postcards. Another feature is that purchasers of the cards are requested to forward them to a member of the particular Reinforcement at tne front. By tin's means a large sum' is already guaranteed .for.:' life.' Wounded Soldiers' Fund, to which the whole of the carnival proceeds--will be devoted. The carnival, which takes place on the Petone llec-reatioii' 'Ground; will lie preceded bv a procession from the local railway station.
