After a quarter of a century's service with the Clyde-quay School Committee, Mr. D. Robertson, owing to ill health, has been compelled to relinquish this work. This week's meeting of householders, on the motion of Mr. W. A. G. Skinner, seconded by Mr. L. R. Partridge, adopted the following resolution : —"This- meeting of householders of Clyde-qiiay school district regrets very much that, owing to illness, Mr. D. Robertson, who has been chairman of the School Committee for over twentyfive, years, should be unable to continue his responsible duties, and it desires to place on record its very warm appreciation of his long and very valuable services io the great cause of education in this district." Mr. Partridge, speaking from bis knowledge of Mr. Robertson's connection with industrial and educational matters generally, said he was a great fighter whenever it was necessary that a fight should be put up. Mr. Jas. Mitchell, as a resident for fifty years in the district, said he had never had occasion to deviate from the high opinion he formed originally of the late chairman's sterling qualities. The headmaster, Mr. W.' T. Grundy, 'thanked Mr. Robertson for his firm, consistent, and thorough support. The great success of the school was very largely due to the work of the School Committee, headed by Mr. Robertson. On behalf of committeemen with whom he had been "associated, Mr. T. Forsyth presented the retiring chairman with a, gold-mounted walking-stick. In acknowledging the presentation and resolution, Mr. Robertson said he had been one of the men instrumental in securing the establishment of Clyde-quay School. That the school had been so successful in turning out boys and girls thoroughly educated was due in .great measure to the first headmaster, Mr. W. T. Grundy, who was stijl with them. Mr Roberton said he would continue to take an interest in the affairs of the school.
