GERMAN WORD AGAINST THE FRENCH.
GERMAN OFFICIAL REPORT.
| LONDON, 18th April. ! A German official communique states:' "The Saxons stormed and recaptured the quarries on 750 yards of front south of Haudromorit, and the I'idge northwest of Douaumont, capturing fortytwo unwounded officers and 1646 men. 'Their names will be gazetted in a similar way to those ofthe 711 officers and 38,155 men who have been captured at Verdun since 21st February. This is Germany's reply to the French denials." [A message, dated London. 13th April, stated: The Germans claim to have captured 35,876 unwounded ■ prisoners at Verdun between 21st February and 10th April. Experts point out that this .-ex'ceeds the total French dead, wounded, and prisoners, and that the latter do not exceed 17,000.]
