MARANUI.

There were twenty-five persons present at the Maranui Hall. Mr, J, Doyle presided. -After considerable discussion the following motion, proposed by Mr. Hackworth, was put and lost: "That a committee be formed to carry out the personal canvass." Several speakers pointed out that many of those present were in sympathy with the spirit of the scheme, though they disagreed as to detail. The following motion, proposed by Mr. Jack, was also lost: " That this meeting, regrets exceedingly that the Central Recruiting Committee placed before us a hard and fast system which we could not depart from in our discussion."
