ISLAND BAY.
There was a fair attendance at the meeting at Island Bay, over which Mr. 1-1. Ivory presided. The meeting resolved: "That this meeting, being conversant with the lack of interest shown in the matter of giving the voluntary system a last trial, deems it to ho unwise to take any more action on the lines suggested by the Recruiting Board, and that time has revealed that the compulsory system should be introduced to answer the fulfilment of our obligations " The gathering was also of unanimous opinion that unattested men eligible for service should be prohibited from taking part in rifle competitions subsidised by the Government.
