„ The Postmaster-General (Sir Joseph Ward) lias authorised the transmission free by post of J\*e\v Zealand newspapers donated by the publishers for the entertainment of soldiers in convalescent hospitals at Rotorua and Haiiraer. This is an extension of the privilege of transmitting free newspapers for soldiers' clubs handed in at a post office. Judgment was delivered by the Court of xippeal yesterday afternoon in a Wanganui case —a claim for specific performance "of an agreement. The plaintiffs were G. C. B. Harper, farmer, of Makirikiri, near Wanganui, and W. W. Taylor, farm manager, of I'ukeroa, and the defendants A. J. Joblin, farmer, of Taihape, and his wife. Plaintiffs alleged 'that, in consideration of the plaintiff Harper guaranteeing A. J Joblin's account with the Union Bank for a fixed sum, Mrs. Joblin offered certain lands as security, the plaintiff having an option to purchase on certain conditions. Plaintiff Harper, who had assigned his interest to the •plaintiff Taylor, sought specilic performance of a-n agreement that had been entered into. The terms of the agreement were in dispute. The case was removed into the Court of Appeal for argument. After dealing at some length with the various points raised, the Court gave judgment for the defendants. At the hearing the counsel for plaintiffs were Sir Francis Hell, K.C., Mr. C. P. Skcrrett, K.C., and Mr. A. D. B.rodic. Sir John Findlay, K.C., and Mr. J. M. Hussey represented the defendants.
