CRUELTY TO ANIMALS
Mr. F. Meadowcroft presided over the fortnightly meeting of -the S.P.C.A., held last evening. There were also present: —Mesdames England and Seville, and Messrs. Watson and Forsyth. A deputy inspector without the full powers of the regular inspector was appointed at Otaki. Inspector Henry ' reported having investigated 23 cases of alleged cruelty since the last meeting. Subscriptions were received and acknowledged from the following:—Wellington Meat K.xport Co., Ltd., £2 2s ; Justice Cooper and Mr. F. Lamberg, each £1 Is; Miss Paul and Mr. C. E. Galwey, each £1; Kempthovne, Prosser and Co., 10s 6d; Dominion Laboratory staff, 7s 6d; Mrs Evans, Messrs. Wallace and Gibson, Swan and Swan, P. Muter, FV Waters. L. T. Silver, H. A. Shepherd, Morrison and Gilberd, Cqulls, Culling, Ltd., Dr. Alan Thomson, South British Insurance, Tyneside Proprietary, Ltd., Westport Coal Co., 5s each; Miss K. Beere, Messrs. ilash and Gcoder, B. C. Aston, 0. Fraser, and Frieud, each 2s 6d—total. £10 19s 6d.
