As llie result of apparently trivial differences amongst the stokehold crew of (.lie steamer Arawa two charges of assault were heard before Mr. W. 0. Pviddell, S.JM.,> in the Magistrate's Court to-d.ay. Gustaf Helm, who described himself, through an intorpretor, as a Finn, proceeded against Thomas Tappin, while the other parties were Frans Salonen and Frederick Barclay respectively. In neither case was the evidence considered sufficient to warrant a conviction, and the informations were dismissed.
