A YOUTH SENTENCED

A youth named Albert Cole, about 18 years of age, who -was previously granted probation, appeared before his Honour the Chief Justice (Sir Robert Stout) at the Supreme Court to-day for sentence on a charge of theft. Mr. P. S. K. Macassey. appeared for the Crown. His Honour said he had reconsidered the' prisoner's case, and thought it better that he should be sent to an industrial school: Cole was consequently sentenced to twelve months' hard labou"r in order to give His Excellency the Governor jurisdiction to commit him to an ■ industrial school. Until the wish of the Governor is known the lad will be kept apart from other prisoners.
