The heavy weather at.Gisborne rendered-it impossible for the liner Cumberland to work that port yesterday. Consequently she will not arrive here from Napier now until next Saturday or Sunday

Cabled advice received locally is to the effect that the steamer Berwick Law arrived safely at Plymouth last Saturday from Wellington. The vessel left this port on the 21st February

The repairs to the Hinerhoa's engineroom .are proceeding steadily, and it is anticipated that the vessel will be ready to leave Wellington for The Brothers and Jackson Head lights about the end of next week. On her return to Wellington she will sail again on her round trip to the northern lighthouses

MANUKA'S MOVEMENTS

Due here to-morrow morning from Lytteiton the Manuka will load Sydney cargo before sailing at 7 p.m. for Lytteiton again. She will return to Wellington on Friday, and after embarking passengers sails at 11 p.m. on Friday for Sydney

PHOSPHATES FOR NEW ZEALAND

The Japanese steamer Kyoto Maru left Japan on the 4th April with a'cargo of superphosphates for New Zealand. Timaru will be the first porfc of onll, \vli6rc sh6 is due aboufc fclic 4tn May. The vessel will most likely go on to Lytteiton and other ports for discharge, but whether Wellington will be visited is not yet known

The Westralia, which is due at Wellington to-morrow from Lytteiton, will sail late in the day for Napier, where she. remains all day Friday.
