NOTES AND COMMENTS
(By "Sir Lancelot.")
Seadown ; the only Trtntham representative at' the C.J.C. Meeting, \vas shipped south last night. He will bo ridden in the Autumn. Plate by A. Oliver. The acceptances for the .Wairarapa Meeting, which opens on Saturday, are very satisfactory. ' There are twelve horses in the Easter Handicap, and the smallest field is nine in the NurseTV Handicap. The acceptances received for the opening day of the Feilding Meeting are good all round. All except Tree Lucerne are left in the Man.gaon e Stakes. Maid o' Gowrie, Analogue, and Lady Louisa, are the only withdrawals from the Feilding Cup. All but Kauwairoa are in the Kawaka-n'a Hurdles. Florist, Zetes. Kaniki, and Cron ParK failed to make the acceptance in the Hack Hurdles. The Onepuhi Hack Welter is the only event in which the field has thinned out to any extent. i r-, " Mr. T. H. Lowry's team for tho C.J.C. Meeting, Bnlboa, Tete.a-tete, and Egypt, were shipped south last, night. R. Hatch wil] ride Taringamutu in the Easter Handicap at Tauherenikau on Saturday, and then go south to steer Bimeter, Emperador, and Nones in their engagements at Biccarton. , j The Auckland-owned horses Ring Lupin, Tararn Jack, and Ihapuna appear among the acceptances for the Feilding Meeting. Tararu Jack was paid up for in the Brighton Hurdles, to be vim at Auckland on Saturday, but evidently his owner has changed his mind. G. Price went South last' night with the Highden team for tho C.J.C. Meeting, consisting of Cease Firo, Nystad, Revelenta, and Sedde). Bahr. Bertrada is to repi-csent tho stable.at tVairarapa. Tho announcement that Mr. W E. Bidwill, the well-knowr Wnirarapa s]xirtsman, is thinking of- retiring from the ranks of owners has been received with regret, For some time past his health has not been . good, which accounts for his absence from meetings at which his colours have been carried. He has engaged Probation, Devotion, Determination, and Elation at the coming Wairarapa Meeting. Strange to say, Mr. Bidwill doss not have much luck on his own course (Tauherenikau). Tha report that Rorko's Drift would be at Riverton instead of Riccarton on Easter Monday turns out to be incorrect. The gelding's arrival at headquarters is announced.
